What this paper covers
This guide is deliberately non-technical. It is written for the people who own the brand rather than the supply chain: CMOs, brand managers, and founders who keep being told counterfeiting is a legal problem and keep seeing it show up in their reviews, their returns rate, and their customer service queue.
It starts with the true cost, which is almost never just the lost unit sale. Counterfeits depress perceived quality, poison review scores, absorb support capacity, distort marketing attribution, and — where safety is involved — create liability that legal cannot settle after the fact. The paper gives a simple model for estimating that total cost from data a brand already has.
The middle section is an honest comparison of every authentication method available, including the ones Cerfinity does not sell, with a plain statement of where each fails. The last section is a practical business case: what a pilot costs, what it should prove, what to measure, and how to present it internally so it survives budget review.
